Pushing the LR limits ?

Pushing the LR limits ?

Postby 41south » Tue Jul 01, 2008 9:24 pm

Hi all,

The http://www.41south.net.nz LR station is on line and appears to be doing very well. The link below is to Gerry's web site (hope that's ok Gerry) and shows some of what this system is capable of :o
We are currently regularly correlating strikes around the pacific, south america, and atlantic regions
I have yet to properly set the gain at my end, but I'm getting emails from German LR stations looking to connect, so best I get on with tweaking
Check out this link for more info.

Cheers

Hello to New Zealand from Jean Yves to Reunion Island. (http://www.astrometeo974.fr)

First sorry for my english !!!!
Some new station in the southern hemisphere, I feel so lonely.
Can you send me data from stations in your area, because I did than Geyserland Observatory (118.92.154.192).
I can make tests connection.

Best regards from Reunion Island.

Hello Jean Yves,

You can try connecting to my station at 203.97.111.49

I'm not sure how many connections I can receive, but all the best.

Hello Collin,
I am logged since this morning 3h UTC.
But I have no signal from your station?

For the limits of connection I have done some trials with the U.S., no problem.

In fact is that the ski season begins at home.
I think you have a few stations?

Best regards from Reunion Island

Hello Jean and Colin,

Jean, I still can not connect to you. You are in my Stationlist.dat ok. On the map your off line, or goes yellow if your on line. Colin said I have email problems. I have mailed you with no reply twice. Maybe this email problem is why. Also I have lost contact with Alan in Perth I told you about, I think for the same reason. Let me give a non ISP mail everyone can use better. All LR folks are welcome to use..Special just for LR use since I'm having these problems..

lrsatx@gmail.com That should work world wide ok.

Jean I have been working with Colin. He is having Gain problems is why you seen nothing.

Have you noticed that the three of us make a good triangle on the globe? Im hoping to use that triangle for good DX on LR. But right now I cant connect to Jean yet, and Colin is building his as yet.. But soon I hope we can explore what we can do with this huge triangle between the three of us.. Let me know what you think!

Jean, here is the line out of my stationlist.dat Maybe this will help if you dont have it.

Station 27; -098.62800; 29.42694; MAP_2500.bmp ; .\pSD\pSD3720042694.dat; 67.11.37.50 ; San Antonio

Good DX!

Hello Gery

I am connected to you from 16:20 pm to day.
For me your station is red, and synchro is good.
But i have the free version of LR, because there are
no other station on Indian Ocean, and is not possible
to detect with two other stations.
For the mail I responded and sent to you a copy of my cards.
Best regards from Reunion Island

Hi Jean,

Thanks for the information on the mail. It was lost coming to me. My ISP and spam stuff it seems.

I stand corrected if I am wrong on this Jean, but I think up to 19 stations can connect to your station regardless of the upgrade. The two station limit is how many you can connect to on a map showing red dots. Many others could be using yours at the same time you can only connect on the map to one. That has been my understaning.. Is that wrong? Anyone? Frank? Daniel? Other LR experts?

I did try again and only get the Red for just a few seconds, then yellow, and going like that a few times. I sure hope its something easy to fix. I know you can connect to others but do you know if anyone has made a connecton going to you, instead of from you?

I looked at your current map and congradulations on reaching LR's distant limit! Your now a member of the mirror club! Strikes on the north pole you see on yours is verification of that.. Those came from some where else, no lightning on the North Pole! ..LR had reached its distant limit and didnt know where to put them...so some went the wrong place! It takes a great distance to have this happen! So your station seems very good!

I'm hoping we can together do strikes across africa.. The most lightning in the world is next door to you, but no LR can reach it very often so far! Your station can put that on the map!

Thanks Jean, we will get it working one way or another!

Regards,

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

I will look at the gain issue of my station tonight. I didn't know that there was a Perth station, it does not show up on any of my maps. Does anyone have it's IP address?

Here's to the Long Range club ;)
